REBRAND TO OMNITYPE
If you have not heard, we are rebranding to a new name and identity. We will be shutting down the store for a couple of weeks at the start of the new year to make changes to our website and brand. We are very excited to show you what we have been creating for most of this year.
UPDATE *
We are very close to launch! GMK Tuzi is going live on Monday, Feb 1st! We may open late Sunday evening just to let everyone get acquainted with some of the new features and tackle any problems that could arise before the set goes live.
We will have an extensive post about all the changes and what they mean on the new Press Release blog, but for now, we will summarize the changes until that blog is unlocked.
CHANGES TO UPDATES
This will be the last update on this domain. Everything will be moving to https://omnitype.com/blogs/updates (which is locked at the moment).
Our update posts are going to be split up into three new categories instead of everything being on the weekly updates.
Press Release - This will be a place where we post about larger news related to the business overall or any announcement we feel is of enough importance to need its own post. Products - The Products category will have a different post for each product drop we do, with all information and history related to that project, all compiled together. These will be organized by the phase the projects are in, so you can easily go see any information you need to know about a project all in one place, instead of going through each weekly update to see when things happened. Updates - These will be weekly updates about new information related to our products, similar to what you’re used to. This will be a place to easily see all the projects’ most recent information in one post.

DEVELOPMENT PHASE
We are nearing the end of the development stage and hope to have some preliminary prototypes before the tooling is made. We hope to have more teases throughout the process soon!

- Injection-molded
- Bauer Lite PCB will be the same form factor as (and compatible with) Bauer 2
- Bauer Lite plates will be the same as (and compatible with) Bauer 2
- Bauer Lite top/bottom case is not the same as Bauer 2 metal versions (i.e. not compatible) because the injection molding process requires a different design for production
- Bauer Lite mounting system will be the same style as the Bauer 2, with neoprene pads and taco bumpers

We are still waiting on updated timelines for all projects from GMK. They have informed us that mostly everything is delayed. However we will not guess as to what that means. We will just wait until they give us actual date estimations before updating here.

We have good news and bad news.
Good News: Pink, purple, and green have been approved along with yellow officially being approved after seeing the other accents.
Bad News: The round 4 modifier sample was so horribly bad, that we are forced to basically ignore it and go for a fifth round. The sample was so far from what we requested and the color being attempting that it could have been confused as a sample for the alphas.
We’re almost there.

Oct 2019 - Colors submitted to the manufacturer
ROUND 1:
+ Early Feb 2020 - Received the first round of samples. 4-month wait.
+ Early Feb 2020 - Sent samples to designer.
+ Late Feb 2020 - Approved red and blue. Submitted adjustments for a second round of alphas, mods, pink, green, purple, and yellow. Right after the pandemic really started to shut down everything.
ROUND 2:
+ Late July 2020 - Received the second round of samples. 5 month wait.
+ Early August 2020 - Sent samples to color specialist to measure and to designer.
+ First Week of Sept 2020 - No approvals. Submitted adjustments for a third round.
ROUND 3:
+ Mid Oct 2020- We received alpha, modifier, and yellow samples. Within 5 weeks of submitting them, which seems to be back to the original timeline of samples from 2019.
+ Mid Oct 2020 - Sent samples to designer and color specialist.
+ Early Nov 2020 - Approved alphas and yellow(tentatively). Submitted adjustments for a fourth round of the modifiers.
+ Late Dec 2020 - Green and Purple samples arrived.
+ Late Dec 2020 - Samples were mailed to designer and color specialist.
+ Early Jan 2021 - Received color data.
+ Early Jan 2021 - Green and Purple are confirmed. Yellow is officially confirmed.
ROUND 4:
+ Late Dec 2020 - R4 Modifier and Pink samples arrived.
+ Late Dec 2020 - Samples were mailed to designer and color specialist.
+ Early Jan 2021 - Received color data.
+ Early Jan 2021 - Pink confirmed. Mod color was nowhere close to what we wanted. the 4th sample for the modifier was basically worthless, giving us no other choice but to get the 5th round.
