DynaCap™ FAQs
General Product FAQs
DynaCap™ is sold worldwide through our network of Authorized Retailers.
While our sliders do much of the work, our housings do contribute to the solution. All keycap profiles and manufacturers are different, and even the same profile from the same manufacturer produced at different times could product different results. Many GMK CYL sets will have zero interference with the use of DynaCap™ sliders in any OEM or aftermarket housing. Some, however will require our housings to remove the last bit of interference.
Yes! DynaCap™ is compatible with 1.2mm thick plates with OEM cutouts. You just have to pair them with our housing gaskets.
EC is so unique - it's difficult to compare spring weight in MX to the dome weight in EC. As a generalization, if you happen to bottom out your switches consistently, an EC 45g switch will feel heavier than a MX 45g switch. Without having tried EC before, if you are accustomed to bottoming out your MX switches, a decent generalization is to add 10g to the EC switch to map to MX weight. So if you bottom out your switches and you prefer 46-55g MX, consider choosing our 45g domes. If you're accustomed to typing light and fast without consistently bottoming out with force, choose the dome weight that matches your MX preference. If you're still not sure, we recommend starting with our Medium DOEMS (45g).
Absolutely! That's what they were designed for.
Currently, we only have have MX-mount sliders. We are considering adding Topre® stems to our lineup. Let us know in Discord if you'd be interested in that!
DynaCap™ was purpose-built to work seamlessly within its own ecosystem, delivering the most consistent and reliable experience possible. That said, it can often be mixed and matched with parts from other EC systems.
Due to the wide variety of designs and inconsistencies across those ecosystems, we don’t officially support or guarantee compatibility with third-party parts. However, members of the DynaCap™ community have tested various combinations and shared their findings to help others navigate potential cross-compatibility.
Below, we’ve compiled a list of those community-tested parts and their reported results. Please note that this is not an official endorsement or compatibility guarantee from DynaCap™; we’re simply passing along what the community has discovered.

No. While on the surface, DynaCap™ and the Naevies are both EC switches, the footprints and internals of them are very different. No parts from either will work with the other.
Omnitype® came along in the middle of Clever’s journey of designing the parts and pitched the idea to make it something bigger than just a line of parts. Make it into an entire brand.
The main role of Omnitype® is branding, customer experience, packaging, logistics, fulfillment, marketing, etc. DynaCap™ is built on their already established stack of tech, supply chain, logistics experience, and staff to hit the ground running.
Yes! Dynacap™ started as Clever’s personal project in his journey of making EC conversion kits and grew to what DynaCap™ is today!
You could say DynaCap™ is the brain-child of Clever and all the part design was done by him! His vision is what brought us to where we are!
The DynaCap website shares a backend with the Omnitype website. So you are able to order both brands together in one order. Building on top of omnitype.com allowed us to take advantage of much more advanced features on the front and backend to make the experience better for our customers.
It’s not a typo! Our initial line of domes upon the release are inspired by the feel of OEM domes, so we had a little fun with the name and called them DOEMs (doh-ee-ems)!
Domes (especially silicone) never end up at the exact weights you order. Most domes you buy are pretty far off from the weight advertised.
We ended up getting our dome weights dialed in to ±3g, but it’s still never perfect. And it can vary from batch to batch by a small amount. So we decided to be more general with the names in order to not be more specific than we can actually promise.
The general weight for our DOEMs:
Lights - 35g
Medium - 45g
Heavy - 55g

Build FAQs
Bundles are a quick way to buy retail parts. Instead of adding each item to your cart one by one, a bundle lets you grab everything with a single click. Bundles do not include a plate or PCB.
DynaPaks are pre-configured, factory-sealed kits built for a specific keyboard. They’re sold alongside the board and do include the matching plate and PCB. DynaPaks also use board-specific quantities—for example, a board that needs 60 switches might get 62 in a DynaPak, instead of the standard 72 you’d find in a retail bundle.
Yes! We have an extension build guide that walks you through every step of your build. You can find it here.
Yes. DynaCap™ is designed with intentional scratchiness to mimick a vintage feel, so lubricant is very much recommended for the best experience.
A general rule of thumb:
- 205g0 for plastic on plastic
- 206g2 for metal on plastic
- 105g0 for springs
While we highly recommend the use of silencing rings, you technically can use DynaCap™ parts without them. Please know that if you choose not to use silencing rings, you will experience a bit more wobble and rattle. Adding rings reduces travel distance while also reducing wobble and rattle. While we recommend the use of 0.5mm silicone silencing rings, you can choose 0.3mm thick rings instead, which will maximize your travel distance while still preventing some wobble/rattle.
Gaskets should only be purchased if you are installing DynaCap™ in a 1.2mm plate.
DynaCap is designed for 1.5mm plates, so the gaskets fill in the extra space when using a 1.2mm plate.
Short answer: match the holes. Most 2u housing cutouts are paired with 1-2 threaded holes towards the corners. Those holes will either be above or below the cutout. Orient the 2u housing so the holes are on the same side (a screw passes through the housing hole and threads in to the plate). While it is possible snap the 2u housing in either way, only one direction is correct. If your keycap is misaligned (too high or low), ensure the housing is oriented correctly.

We are in the process of completing the designs of our DynaCap PCBs. They will release as they are completed. Our plan is to stock them in various popular layouts.
We have plans to introduce new colors in 2026. Yes, we will be adding black to the lineup.
Currently you can use cipulot's plate generator to create a plate file to get made for your build.
We plan to have this natively on the DynaCap™ website soon with as many popular plate designs as we can, pending permission of designers.
